When Pete handed over the Weld helm he said I should blog a lot. :-) As much as I would like to do this, it’s actually impossible to squeeze massive blogging into my working hours. But of course that doesn’t mean I won’t blog completely. Here for a change, not being MC related, is my first blog whose theme is Weld/CDI based. ;-)

I'm pleased to announce the availability of Seam 3.0.0.Beta1.

I've just published Weld 1.1.0, the reference implementation of JSR-299: Contexts and Dependency Injection for Java EE. It's based on the CDI 1.0 API. You can find direct download links at the bottom of this post or you can pull the artifacts from the JBoss Maven Repository.

Some people have wondered why CDI requires an explicit @Named annotation before a bean can be accessed using EL? Why not just give all beans names by default?

Congratulations to the whole AS team on the release of version 6! JBoss AS 6 is a Java EE 6 compliant application server, so it includes built-in support for many of the technologies we talk about here: CDI, JPA 2, Bean Validation, EJB 3.1, JSF 2.0, Servlets 3.0, along with many major enhancements in other areas.
