This month I'm presenting at JSF Days in Vienna, Austria on Web Beans, and at JAX in Mainz, Germany on Web Beans and Seam. If you are in the area, drop by!

I'm pleased to announce the release of Web Beans 1.0.0.BETA1. This release implements around 90% of the JSR-299, Java Contexts and Dependency Injection specification. The only major feature missing from this release is support for annotating your beans using XML.

This release implements around 80% of the JSR-299, Java Contexts and Dependency Injection specification and represents the second major milestone on the road towards the GA release. The only major features missing from this release are conversations (already on their way!) and support for annotating your beans using XML.

As you may know, I've been working very closely with the other stake holders in JSF (e.g. Sun, Oracle, Apache) on JSF 2. I just wanted to pull together a few recents threads to give you an update.

Some of the highlights of this release include simple and enterprise Web Beans, support for JBoss Application Server 5, typesafe injection, events and producer methods. DZone just published a Seam reference card, by Seam committer Jacob Orshalick.

Kito Mann, editor of JSF Central, recorded a podcast with me a couple of weeks back. We deleved deep into the features of Seam 2.1, but also talked about the Public Review Draft of Web Beans (keep an eye on Gavin's blog for updates) and JSF2.
