The RichFaces project has been without a logo for a long time, and I am proud to say that is changing. The JBoss.org team has been working hard to create options and variations of different logos. We then posted them to the community for opinions and feedback and through several different rounds a winner was chosen. |

This logo is extremely ugly in my opinion, they almost made me discard the framework :-)
Awesome mustache!
I have in mind a couple of very ugly Rolling Stones covers that didn't prevent people from buying the cds...
Hercule Poirot style, right. Not too bad imo and far enough from all the proposed jewel-based logos that would have confused people into believing it's a Ruby framework or something :)
Well, I guess what's more important is that RichFaces 3.3.1 is about to be released. On top of the dozens of components available, there will be new layout components, galore fixes, etc... RF really lifts JSF to another level.
My first reaction is: hahaha
I like it. It makes sense and is definitely memorable.
The most important part is that the community was involved. For that I am the most proud. I think it's appropriate that if the community gets to participate in the code, that a logo is not for them to get involved. Bravo!
And yes, I think there is something slightly comical about the logo that keeps the mood light :) Very classic too.
thought very ugly ahhahahhaha!
Very nice! I agree with Damien; the mustache is fantastic.
My first impression yesterday was something like . Today, on the second view, I thought: .
I do not blame the illustration for itself, but personally I think it does not connect to RichFaces in a nice way. It looks old fashioned in a weird way, and I have problems in connecting that to a cool, innovative technology. I really like RichFaces, and I hope this logo will not harm RichFaces and its image.
Maybe it was just the lack of better alternatives? At least, there were quite a few Ruby-like alternatives, which were no option from the beginning. Personally, I hope JBoss is investing a little more effort in the logo and does another iteration (or a public competition). I want to work with cool products with cool logos. ;)
The competition were open and public - see the links.

I guess the adage applies here ;-)
I am not surprised that some people like it and others do not. We had several rounds of options with a fair amount of feedback and in this situation it is always hard to come up with something that will be liked by everyone.
We had some specific goals for the logo. One of the more important goals was to have an open, community based effort. We also wanted a logo that was original, and recognizable. I think we have accomplished both.
Obviously it is also important to represent the project which is where the monopoly guy (a rich face) comes in with the monocle and the abstract representation of the face. Plus as Dan said keeping it light and a little comical, is not a bad thing.
Give it a chance, and I think it will grow on you!

I like the new logo very much.
From all of the suggested logos, this one is the best and most professional IMO whilst not being too serious!
Ouch, I lost the contest! A few months ago I created an logo for the richfaces to a friend developer. He ask me to do the logo for an workshop that he have to present.
Well, it's over now. At least the link.
