While working on Hibernate Search 3.3, we have discovered a critical issue with Hibernate 3.2. If you use Hibernate Core 3.5 in a JTA environment (recommended), the way Hibernate Search 3.2 registers itself can lead to inconsistent indexing and generate assertion failures. All this is fixed in Hibernate 3.2.1 which you can get here and ported to trunk as well. We have also added tests to cover the JTA area.

The Hibernate team is happy to announce the availability of both the 3.5.4 and 3.6.0.Beta1 releases.

Calling all Seam module contributors!

The JPA 2 metamodel is the cornerstone of type-safe criteria queries in JPA 2. The generated classes allow you to refer to entity properties using static field references, instead of strings. (A metamodel class is the fully-qualified class name of the entity class it matches followed by an underscore (_)).

There are no functional changes between CR1 and this Final release. Some minor issues in the @Min, @Max and @EmailValidator got fixed (HV-335, HV-339) as well as some documentation typos. We also spend some time improving the parsing and validation speed by reviewing and improving some reflection based code (HV-340, HV-341, HV-342). Review the full release notes for details.

While the community is pondering on the question as how to do JSF headless rendering for xhtml templates for content delivery, I started planing on how to make the Excel-centric spreadsheet module from Seam 2 more generic for the upcoming Seam 3 release. This blog is just a documented brainstorming session where I call for feedback so don't panic if you feel you didn't learn anything new once you finished reading.
